  1. 1. In think that the song perfectly resembles the life of a soldier because
they fight the most for their "calling". They also are always wishing to
come home. However I also think it applies to the man in jail or the alcoholic
    in rehab.
    2. No I never even considered what the lyrics meant I just sang them.
    3. The beginning because I can actually listen to it easily since I don't sing
it. And it actually sounds like morning is coming.

  3. The picture shows how much hard work our troops are doing in the war. The lyrics tell their story of going through an important experience in their lives but also needing to return to their loved ones. I believe this song is about just that, needing to do something in their lives but also wanting to return home. The beginning of the song when it starts really slow.

  4. I thought the lyrics were about someone saying to his/her parents: "Don't make me do what you want me to do. Let me go explore the world, and I will come back when I've seen enough."

So, I was surprised that the video was pictures of US soldiers in the Middle East. They make the song feel sadder because the song is then coming from soldiers whose safety we all worry about.

I like the refrain "Bind me not to the pasture. Chain me not to the plow. Set me free to find my calling and I'll return to you somehow" best because it is the most forceful part of the song.

  5. 1. The images relate to the words because it means that the soldiers fighting in the war will be home when they're done their "duty". It's also relating to the solider's families who miss them.
    2. I didn't think the song related to the military but I did think it related to having to leave home and family.
    3. I like the part that says "And the wind will set me racing as my journey nears it's end. And the path I'll be retracing when I'm homeward bound again".

    3. What section of this piece do you like the most? I like towards the end when all their voices came together in a crescendo.

  7. 1. The images show soldiers in places far from their homes and loved ones and the song talks about a person returning to their loved ones.
    2. I didn't directly relate the song to soldiers. I thought it was more straightforward about a person missing their home and going home. However, now that I've seen this video it makes sense that the two are connected
    3. My favorite part is the end when the voices all get softer and the lyrics are the same as the very first part

  10. Asiana and Kylin

    1) the song is about coming home and the pictures are about the war. So the loved ones are wanting their family to come home.
    2) No we think it's like a love song.
    3) We like the beginning, when it is just the piano playing.

  11. 1. The images in the video show another meaning to the lyrics. The images give the lyrics a more dramatic, painful feeling. The lyrics are able to have multiple meanings, and the images give a more powerful meaning.

    2. I thought the song was about something different, not what was shown in the video. I thought the song was a happier, joyous song because the tune, rhythm of the music. After watching the video it gave a new view on the song is imagined.

    3. “Bind me not to the pasture
chain me not to the plow
set me free to find my calling
and I’ll return to you somehow”
I love the lyrics, and the tune they go along with. The speed gives it a stronger feeling than the slow pace of the rest of the song. I like how it gives the song a different beat than the rest of the song.

  12. 1. The images shown are melancholy and the lyrics are as well but each has significance meanings. Depending on the line of the song it can be very soulful because it shows someone missing another. Yet the pictures can be a bit disturbing because of the nature like a patrol car and armored cars can be both frightening and welcoming because it means safety.

    2. Yes and no because when thinking of the songs message I think of my friends whom have gone away for the summer or the winter and when I can meet them again. When you start to think about the meaning of the words with in the song then you realize that this also applies to the soldiers in the war and or the Navy and Air force.

    3. The pat of the song that I like most is from the fourth page the end of the sixth page because it has such a nice tone to it and because whenever someone sings it is very personal to that person, and it can convey their longing to see ones family or friends again.

  13. 1) The images are very relevant to the song Homeward Bound. The images of
soldiers echo the lyrics of the song talk of wanting to return home.

    2) These images are not what immediately came to my head when we sang this
song. For the song Foggy Dew it is easy to tell that it is about war. For
this song the meaning is more understated.

    3) I like that the pictures of the soldiers are not of them in battle, but
are of the peaceful moments when the soldiers hang out with each other and
talk to civilians. They depict the soldiers creating a home for themselves
    abroad.
