Jenkintown Rotary Holiday Celebration

Dear Friends,

The Jenkintown Rotary Holiday performance is today~December 11th at 12:45 p.m.

We will be leaving school between 11:45-12:10 p.m.

We will return at 1:45 p.m.

Thank you all for your participation in this annual event!

Tonight, there is an Honors Chorale rehearsal from 7:00-9:00 p.m. 

Thursday December 13th from 7:00-9:15 p.m. there is a mandatory rehearsal for all vocal members!!!! 

Our Winter Choral Concert is Monday, December 17.  

ALL VOCAL MEMBERS need to be in the auditorium by 6:30 p.m. ready to sing.

We are fast approaching the Winter Concert, which means tons of singing, focus and rehearsals (as well as performances)

The following dates need to be added to your calendars.

You are required to attend all rehearsals.

November 29^th          6:30 p.m.    BelleTones   NHS Ceremony-(nice clothing)

December  4^th            7:00-9:00 p.m.  BelleTones/JTG

December 6th            7:00-9:00 p.m. Honors Chorale

December 7^th             11:40-1:30 p.m.   ALL VOCAL ENSEMBLES

Mandatory Attendance-High School Auditorium

Rotary Club Holiday Concert (we will need 5 drivers)

Monday October 22-All Concert Choir Members

Tuesday October 23-Half Day~a.m. schedule

Honors Chorale after  right school-20 minute rehearsal in preparation for our performance of Peze Kafe

Wednesday October 24-Honors Chorale

World Language Honors Society Performance

Honors Chorale members please be in the high school choir room by 6:30 p.m.

Thursday October 25-All Concert Choir members.

5:45-7:15 Honors Chorale "pot-luck"  theme is Metalian (Mexican and Italian food).  All members, please bring something to the pot-luck...and be on time.  We sing at 6:15 p.m.

October 18th Entry

Reminders:

$100 due today in preparation for our Adjudication trip in April.

Pot-Luck Honors Chorale~Tonight beginning at 5:45 p.m.  Members bring drinks and dessert.

Then...Men only rehearse.

Honors Chorale's first performance: October 24th at 7:00 p.m.  Call time is at 6:30 p.m. in the high school choir room.

Nice attire required.

No Sneakers, jeans...men in nice pants, long sleeved shirt and tie!

Ladies: nice skirts/dresses.  No pants or leggings.

Run Children Run

Run Children Run

 Full of musical influences from diverse cultures, Run Children Run is based on a traditional field yell or holler, the songs that black slaves would call out across the cotton fields in order to relay messages of support and solidarity.

 

 

 

 The field holler employs a single, repeated musical verse which sounds like a kind of yell or cry. An answering shout or holler would then come from another field far away. Slaves often sang hollers as they worked in the vast tobacco and cotton fields of the South. Hollers were also a way of communicating, and sometimes contained coded information, such as the time and location for the next secret meeting where a ring shout might be performed.

The JHS BelleTones participated in the Music in the Parks Adjudication.

Their performance was outstanding and received the following awards:

Superior Rating Vocal Ensemble for 2012-Gold

The Festival Award for overall outstanding Vocal Ensemble-Gold

Brittany Schadel received the award for Best Outstanding Vocalist of the 2012 Music in the Parks Festival!

2012 Talent Show Case!!!

Congratulations to the 2012 Honors Chorale!!!

On March 6th 2012, the JHS Honors Chorale represented Jenkintown High School for MIOSM and sang at the Capital in Harrisburg, Pa.

They were greeted by Senator Washington and performed beautifully.  

Afterwards, the Chorale was introduced by the Speaker of the Senate and Senator Washington in the Senate Chamber.

It was a very proud day for the JHS Vocal Department and Jenkintown High School!
